"Education is the most important human right. Parents are trying to give the best education to their children to safeguard their future. Value education teaches harmony, independence and leadership. It teaches youth that knowledge and skill are not the only requisite to succeed in life, but also positive attitude
Values teach the youth to laugh at their miseries and be sympathetic towards the miseries of others. A person who succeeds in the right way is the one who inspires others to succeed. He understands others problems too and tells them how to solve them.
In the present day with growing number of engineering colleges, the role of a teacher has become complex. It is a difficult task to maintain the changes in the status level of the students. Few decades earlier the situation was different where relatively smaller group with self motivation only were able to get into main stream of technical education. These days’ teachers experience a great difficulty in understanding the limitations of students.
At this juncture improved methodologies are necessary in promoting value education. Analysing the characteristics of students, using techniques to motivate the students ‘how to learn’ using interactive techniques to promote learning, adopting suitable tools to evaluate learning to provide guidance and counseling to students.
Calling students by name, knowing something about your student’s interest, creating and using personally relevant class examples, to increase accessibility to students getting online using e-mail, interacting more, rewarding the students, being enthusiastic about teaching and passionate about subject matters, these are some of the points to have faculty develop good rapport with the students.
Encouraging students to set personal goals, helping students to explore ‘what they want to become’ by discussing employment prospects, creating friendly environment in the classroom, discussing future scope of the subject in the professional careers, allowing students for group discussions using audio visual aids, organizing industrial visits, encouraging to participate in the co-curricular activities, organizing group and individual counseling are some ways to motivate students.
Dear student friends, in life we have to face many a crisis, those experiences are not to make us bitter but to make us better. They are not to break us but to make us.
